Crafted using CNC milling, allowing for blade geometriesthat are impossible via conventional blade manufacture. Each blade small batch hardened (no more thana dozen at a time) to ensure an optimal hardness of 60HRC. The blades are made from Takefu 67-layer SanMai, with a VG10 core. VG10 is arguably one of Japan’s finest stainless knifesteels. Each blade is individuallyetched in a mixture of hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride before beingcleaned and buffed. The blade geometryallows for a substantial and rigid spine, with a concave blade profile leadingto a razor-sharp cutting edge. Thehandles are created from authentic Purdey gunstock walnut, that has beenpressure-reinforced with an epoxide polymer. The strip of Audley red that sets the handles apart consists oflayered glass fibre. Each handle isshaped, sanded, oiled and finished by hand. The handle is secured using a combination of marine epoxy and customrivets applied with a 2-tonne press. Thesheaths are made in Devon from oak-tanned leather.
