Crafted using CNC milling, allowing for blade geometriesthat are impossible via conventional blade manufacture. Each blade small batch hardened (no more thana dozen at a time) to ensure an optimal hardness of 60HRC. The blades are made from Takefu 67-layer SanMai, with a VG10 core. VG10 is arguably one of Japan’s finest stainless knifesteels. Each blade is individuallyetched in a mixture of hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride before beingcleaned and buffed. The blade geometryallows for a substantial and rigid spine, with a concave blade profile leadingto a razor-sharp cutting edge. Thehandles are created from English oak that has been pressure-reinforced with anepoxide polymer. The strip of Alderneyred that sets the handles apart consists of layered glass fibre. Each handle is shaped, sanded, oiled andfinished by hand. The handle is securedusing a combination of marine epoxy and custom rivets applied with a 2 tonnepress. The sheaths are made in Devonfrom oak-tanned leather.
